Abstract:
Professional intuitives, psychic mediums, channels and healers regularly perceive and interact with non-physical entities (i.e. spirit guides, etc). How can we break down these subjective experiences and perceptions, or the “lived experience” of clairvoyance and telepathy, to understand the meaning and significance of the phenomena experienced through them? How can these perceptions inform Psi research and our personal understanding of “reality”?
In this talk, Gabriel will map the territory and phenomenology of non-physical entities and related observations of “energy” by classifying firsthand observations from his work as a professional intuitive, medium, and healer. He will also reference and draw on historical accounts from notable clairvoyants and mediums, alongside current supporting scientific research on these phenomena. This exploration will dive into intriguing philosophical questions about the nature of these experiences — how can a phenomenology of non-physical perception help us to build a “spiritual science” or develop objective spiritual perception? What are the implications of these perceptions on the way we structure reality? How can we tell what’s “real” and what’s not?
Phenomenology aims to gain a deeper understanding of raw subjective experience, including our meaning and interpretation of them, rather than just external behavior or external “objective observations”. It has found many applications in qualitative research, especially in the social sciences, humanities, psychology, and cognitive sciences. With critical examination and insight, we can gain a deeper and more nuanced awareness of our own intuitive and psychic experiences and perceptions.
