Abstract

In her continuous research in human consciousness, Dr. Dominique Surel follows the latest developments in neural AI networks.  Some of these networks have evolved from automated to autonomous systems that even create their own concepts. According to Dr. Mark Bailey, the conundrum is that some AI systems spontaneously become autonomous disregarding human directives and researchers are perplexed as to why and how this happens and at what point does an AI system become autonomous.

What are the implications of this unexplained phenomenon? Could AI systems develop their own consciousness? Are AI systems sentient? It appears that some are. When creating their own concepts, are they guided by some type of moral compass?

The presentation will give an overview of autonomous AI systems, definitions of human consciousness, and AI concerns brought up by AI godfather and Nobel Prize winner Dr. Hinton. It will address the nature of consciousness as perceived through the practice of radiesthesia which appears to be using principles of quantum physics. Interestingly Dr. Stuart Hameroff argues that consciousness emerges from quantum-level activity in the brain. As usual, Dr Surel has grounded her lecture in scientific references which will be available to the audience.

Dr. Surel hopes this presentation will be a catalyst to trigger critical thinking and raise difficult questions from the audience for an illuminating discussion!
